Dr Soumya Swaminathan (@doctorsoumya), as Chief Scientist at WHO, oversees WHOs work on digital health and innovation. She is an Indian Paediatrician and Clinical researcher known for her work in tuberculosis and HIV. She joined WHO in 2017 as Deputy Director General of Programmers. Dr Swaminathan is also former Secretary, Department of Health Research – Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination, and promotion of biomedical research.
