Dr Emanuele Capobianco

Director of Programming, WHO Foundation, Switzerland

Dr Emanuele Capobianco (@ecapobianco) is the Director of Programming in the recently established WHO Foundation. Until recently he was the Director of Health & Care at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) where he led the global Red Cross response to COVID-19 as well as the response to Ebola outbreaks in DRC and to other major global health emergencies. Before joining IFRC, Emanuele was the Deputy Executive-Director of the Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health. He worked at the Global Fund as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Executive Director, leading the development of the 2017-2022 Global Fund Strategy. Emanuele worked in UNICEF Mozambique as Chief of Health and Nutrition, in the World Bank as Senior Health Specialist, managing a large portfolio of grants, particularly in South Asia and Eastern Africa, and in the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, promoting the STOP TB partnership in the Middle East. Emanuele  holds a Medical Degree from Pavia University, a Master in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and an Erasmus Mundus Master in International Humanitarian Action.
