GHFutures2030 Call for Youth Blogs

The Lancet & Financial Times Commission Governing health futures 2030: Growing up in a digital world (GHFutures2030) is calling for blog submissions for our special thematic series titled ‘Health futures: Youth voices at the forefront of digital health governance’. This special thematic series will invite youth under 30 to share their views and voice their opinions on issues related to digital health governance, expanding our blog authorship to include future leaders of health futures. In particular, we are looking to include op-ed pieces and case studies.

Op-ed pieces should aim to address:

  1. What youth specifically hope to get from the Commission report
  2. What is needed to ensure they are meaningfully involved in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of all policies, programmes, services, and tools related to digital technologies, data, and health as well as the overall governance of health futures.

 The Commission wants to receive case studies from youth that address—but are not limited to—any of the following areas of work:

  • Examples of youth-led or youth-focused digital health and AI interventions in communities or lines of work and how they have scaled (if relevant), particularly at the grassroots level and/or in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)
  • Digital health-related examples arising from youth experiences related to health workforce (e.g. how digital health and AI interventions supported health and social care workers), particularly at the grassroots level and/or in LMICs
  • Examples of how youth are/have been considered in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of all policies, programmes, services, and tools related to digital technologies, data, and health, particularly in LMICs
  • Evidence of barriers to digital health literacy, and what has been/is being introduced to overcome these, with emphasis on efforts to improve digital health literacy amongst youth;
  • Evidence of how children and young people have worked/are working in collaboration with various stakeholders on shared objectives
  • Examples of governance mechanisms that have meaningfully engaged youth for positive, sustainable change.

The closing date for blog submission is 30 July 2021, 11:59 pm CEST. Please follow the Commission’s editorial guidelines and submit your blog post through this Google Form.

Should you have further questions, please send an email to youth.ghfutures2030@graduateinstitute.ch copying in governinghealthfutures2030@graduateinstitute.ch.

Many thanks for your interest. We look forward to receiving your contribution.
